Grades 6–7
Aiming for a 6 or 7?
We raise the challenge. Harder questions. Unfamiliar contexts. Deeper reasoning. Less hand-holding.
Your child doesn't need another tutor working through random topics. They need a clear, personalised route to their target IB Maths AA HL grade, built around their level, gaps and the IB assessment.

It's the most common thing parents tell us, and it's almost never about effort. Usually, it's one of these
Skipped steps, unclear working, algebra slips on the non-calculator paper and poor time management cost marks they could have earned.
They can follow the methods, but lose marks when they have to combine techniques, tackle unfamiliar problems or write a clear proof.
Gaps in algebraic fluency make calculus, functions and trigonometry much harder than they should be.
More tutoring hours won't solve the problem if you're working on the wrong things. That's why we start by finding out exactly what's holding your child back.
At Edmento, lessons start from £15 an hour. Across the UK, the cost of an IB Maths AA HL tutor depends on the tutor's experience, the level being taught, how much exam and Internal Assessment support is involved and what support comes with the lessons.
1-to-1 lessons cost more than group tuition, but every minute goes on your child's gaps. You won't be asked to buy a large block of lessons before you know the tutor is right: start with the free consultation and a trial.

While other tutors guess, we diagnose. While they teach, we measure. That's why our grades move fast.
Find exactly where and why they’re losing marks.
Focus lessons on the gaps with the biggest impact on their grade.
We test, track and adjust until progress shows in exam performance.
No random tutoring. No guessing. Just a clear plan.
Tell us your child’s current or predicted IB Maths AA HL grade, target grade and key struggles so we can recommend the right support.

Your child meets a matched IB Maths AA HL tutor who assesses their level, identifies gaps and starts tackling the gaps holding them back.

A student working at a 3 and a student aiming for a 7 require completely different tutoring strategies.
We target that to make their next grade jump.
Grades 6–7
We raise the challenge. Harder questions. Unfamiliar contexts. Deeper reasoning. Less hand-holding.
Grades 4–5
We secure the core Maths AA content, close critical gaps and build confidence with the exam questions your child needs to get right.
Grades 1–3
This is where the plan matters most. We rebuild the foundations first, close the biggest gaps and build steadily towards a secure pass.
Let’s find what’s standing between them and the top marks
Yes, because every lesson can focus on the exact areas costing your child marks, rather than following the pace and needs of a whole class.
Spend more time on the Maths AA they struggle with and less on what they already know.
Whether they’re working at a 3 or a 6, teaching starts from where they are now.
Apply each topic to the style of questions they’ll face in Paper 1 (no calculator), Paper 2 (graphing calculator allowed) and Paper 3 (extended problem solving).
Spot where their method, algebra or proof went wrong before the same mistake happens again.
Get guidance on choosing a topic, planning the work and meeting the assessment criteria.
Lessons focus on the skills and marks needed to move towards their target IB Maths AA HL grade.
Yes. Online IB Maths AA HL tutoring can be as effective as face-to-face when lessons are interactive. Tutor and student work on a shared digital whiteboard, so every step of working is visible, and past-paper questions are built up step by step together.
At Edmento, lessons start from £15 an hour. Across the UK, IB Maths AA HL tutoring costs vary with the tutor's experience, the level and how much exam and Internal Assessment support is included. We start with a free consultation and a trial lesson, with no large upfront package, so you can judge the value before committing.
It usually is when lessons target the specific reasons your child is losing marks. Every point counts towards the IB total out of 45 that university offers depend on, so closing gaps in Maths AA can make a real difference. The trial lesson lets you judge before committing.
As soon as you notice something slipping: a low predicted grade, a disappointing mock or confidence dropping. DP1 gives the most room to fix gaps properly, but DP2 students still make real progress with focused lessons, especially before predicted grades are set.
Once a week suits most students: enough to close gaps steadily and keep momentum alongside a busy IB workload. Some move to twice a week before mocks or the final exams. We'll suggest a frequency based on your child's starting point, target and time available.
It can, though no honest tutor guarantees a result. Progress comes from fixing the specific gaps and technique problems that cost marks, practising regularly and getting feedback. We track progress and share updates, so you can see whether it's working.
HL covers everything in SL plus additional Higher Level topics, with longer papers and an extra Paper 3 of extended problem-solving questions. It needs more teaching time and more independent practice, so a tutor helps most by keeping your child on top of the extra content from the start of DP1.
Analysis and Approaches (AA) is more algebraic and abstract, with a strong focus on calculus, proof and a non-calculator paper. Applications and Interpretation (AI) focuses on modelling, statistics and using technology to solve real-world problems. Both are offered at SL and HL, and we tutor all four courses.
Usually because it is heavily algebraic and expects students to work without a calculator on Paper 1. Small gaps in algebra slow everything down, and questions often combine several topics. Fixing the foundations makes the harder content far more manageable.
By building fluency with algebra, exact values and standard results until they are automatic, then practising full papers under timed conditions with feedback on every step of working.
Yes. Tutors can help your child choose a strong topic, plan their approach and understand the assessment criteria for the mathematical exploration (Internal Assessment). The work itself must be your child's own, so we guide and give feedback rather than write it for them.
Lessons happen live, 1-to-1, over video. Tutor and student work on a shared digital whiteboard, so every step of working is visible, and past-paper questions are worked through together. Your child needs a laptop or tablet and their graphing calculator and a quiet space; many families find it easier than travelling to lessons.
We match on subject, level (HL), your child's needs and their personality, and look for tutors who know the current IB syllabus and assessment. After the free assessment we suggest a tutor, and your child has a trial lesson so you can both judge the fit before committing.
Yes. You can receive lesson feedback and progress updates, and your Student Success Manager is available whenever you have a question or concern.
Tell your Student Success Manager and we'll find a better match. It happens occasionally, and it's easy to fix.
